While baklava might seem like a complicated dessert, I'm here, and so excited, to let you know that it's actually one of the simplest desserts out there!
Prepare the simple syrup. Pulse the walnuts with sugar and cinnamon until finely chopped.
Layer third of the phyllo sheets and brush each layer with melted butter. Add half of the walnut mixture.
Top with half of the remaining sheets and add the remaining walnuts mixture.
Add the rest of the phyllo sheets and brush with melted butter. Cut into diamonds and bake in the oven for 1 hour.
Right when you take the baklava out of the oven, pour the cool syrup all over the hot baklava.
Let it sit for an hour and top with ground pistachios.
