Ingredients

Churro Coating:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

Chocolate sauce:

  • 4 oz dark chocolate
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  • Mix the milk with white vinegar and let it sit for 10 minutes. You can use this as buttermilk in this recipe.
  • Mix the milk mixture, oil and eggs in a large bowl. Add in the sugar, flour, baking soda and baking powder to the mixture. Mix until combined but don't overmix the batter.
  • Preheat the waffle iron. Depending on the size of the iron, pour 1/4 - 1/3 cup of the batter in the waffle iron and cook for 3-4 minutes, until it starts steaming and the waffle is golden brown and cooked.

Churro Coating:

  • Mix the sugar and cinnamon, set aside.
  • Once the waffles are cooked, brush them with melted butter on both sides and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.

Chocolate Sauce:

  • Heat heavy cream in a small sauce pan until just starts to simmer. Turn the heat off, add chopped chocolate and stir until melted and combined.
  • Serve churro waffles with chocolate sauce.
