A few days ago we spent a fun morning with Star Market and Shaw’s working with O Organics® snacks and learned a lot about snacking healthy and tasty! Here is a recap of my fun day and a snack board for you!
This post is sponsored by my friends at Shaw’s and Star Market. All opinions are mine.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I post lots of stories (I love sharing stuff with you!) and a few days ago, I shared this series of stories with you from an event with O Organics. Let me tell you some more details about it!
Star Market and Shaw’s invited a group of bloggers to attend an event on a Thursday to learn about O Organics snacks and how to make delicious snack boxes that kids and adults will love. We started the day by learning about all the different snacks O Organics offers and there were lots of delicious options to choose from, such as pita crackers, mini hummus packs and a super delicious chicken sausage with spinach and feta.
And then we had coffee. I mean, coffee is totally necessary at all times, right?
We also watched registered dietitian Annessa Chumbley demonstrating some delicious snacks, such as date bars and avocado deviled eggs. I will definitely have to try those bars at home – I loved the flavor and how easy they were! Plus, I’m all about dates, We also tasted some refreshing smoothies. Mine was blueberry mango and I loved it!
There was this super cute kids snack station that I couldn’t stop taking photos of. It was absolutely perfect for kids. Those cheddar lions were adorable, and the hummus packs are just the right size for snacking.
Then we started building our own bento box snacks and that was so much fun! I went with a Mediterranean-style bento box using hummus, carrots and pita chips. I added a bite of Annessa’s date bars and some fruit.
We also received some goodies in our gift bags and I cannot wait to share the snack board I made using O Organics products which are available in my area at Shaw’s and Star Market stores. I love working with O Organics because Shaw’s and Star Market believe that great-tasting organic food should be available for everybody at a reasonable price.
I had a wonderful time spent with the Star Market and Shaw’s team and Annessa and had so much fun learning everything about snacking healthy. Thank you Kim Baile for taking this photo of us!
What’s a snack board good for?
You can make this snack board for after school or general snacks for any time of the day. Once we made this easy snack board we left it on the table and the whole family enjoyed it through the day. It’s a colorful and delicious combination of some of our favorite snacks that we just can’t get enough of!
What do I need to put a good snack board together?
You definitely need a spread or a dip to make a good snack board. O Organics offers USDA certified organic products that we can use to make delicious, healthy and affordable snacks for everyone! I used O Organics Hummus Singles which are super creamy and go perfectly with their pita chips. I also used O Organics Crispy Pea Snacks with Sea Salt, chicken spinach & feta sausage, and Mini Cheese Sandwich Crackers. I also added some dried figs for a bit of sweetness which nicely complimented everything else.
What I love the most about this snack board is that it’s perfect for kids as they’re always asking for snacks once they’re home after school. It takes literally ten minutes to put this snack board together and kids will devour it in no time because it’s everything they love!
How should you set up a snack board?
Choose a board or a platter that is big enough for all the snacks you’re going to use. Then start searing the chicken sausage with spinach and feta. I love this sausage because you can clearly see the real pieces of spinach and feta in it. Place the snacks on the board and open a few hummus single packs and place them on both sides of the board so everyone has access to them. Finish the board by adding the cooked sausage and some figs.
You can modify this board and swap the hummus for salsa and pita chips for mini blue corn chips. It’s going to be a great snack idea for kids and adults, no one will ever say no to a big snack board!
