It’s finally time to announce something very big at Unicorns in the Kitchen! The Enchantingly Easy Persian Cookbook is finally here!
I have some pretty big news that I’ve been wanting to share with you for the longest time! I’ve been giving hints here and there but for those of you who didn’t know, I started writing my first cookbook this year. I still haven’t mentioned it much on the blog because, to this very moment, I still look at the cover and ask myself: “Did I really do this?”
When I started Unicorns in the Kitchen in late August 2015, little did I know that I would be having my first cookbook in less than 18 months. Thanks to you and your support and kindness, it happened and even though it wasn’t easy at all, it was totally and entirely worth it.
Now my first cookbook, The Enchantingly Easy Persian Cookbook, is available for pre-order!
I can’t express how happy I am that I have this chance to share with you all these recipes that I grew up with and enjoyed through years. Let me tell you more about this cookbook:
It’s a collection 100 beloved Persian recipes from Iran. I’ve tried my best to make the recipes as simple as possible since the main thing I hear when I talk to people about Persian food is, “oh, the food is amazing, but very difficult.” This cookbook will show you that Persian food is so easy to make and doesn’t require any special effort.
One thing that many don’t know about Persian food is that it’s actually quite healthy. It’s not deep fried or loaded with butter. Many recipes are vegetarian or can easily be modified to vegetarian. There are even many gluten free recipes!
There is a list of pantry staples for you in the cookbook so you can be ready to cook from the cookbook any time you want! There is a brief history of Persian cuisine and how it has evolved through the years to be where it is now. The book covers several chapters, from Appetizers to Mixed Rice Dishes (my favorite!) and, of course, Desserts and Sweets. And something very special: there are memory sidebars in the book, where I have written about myself and my family and what these recipes mean to us and our people.
I will come back with more good news! Now you can pre-order my cookbook here!

Thank you so much Jackie! I’m excited!
I worked for a very wealthy Persian man years ago. One of his favorite things was rice cooked in a special rice cooker that created a crust on the bottom. Then you turn it out on a plate and it holds its shape. It was very tasty but I’ve never seen anything like it in the U.S. Do you discuss this in the book by any chance? Or do you know what I’m talking about?
Hi Lise! Yes I totally know what you are talking about! I discuss two types of white rice and several types of mixed rice dishes in the book and there are recipes for ice dishes that hold their shape!
Congrats! I love Persian food and this book looks beautiful!
Thank you Susan!
