Make yourself this three layered smoothie to cool down in summer! This smoothie is a perfect way of having your family eat their daily portion of fruit!
So what’s up? With us? We have great news!
My husband is a PhD now! His graduation was last weekend and it was beautiful. I was so proud seeing him walking in his gorgeous regalia with other PhD candidates and finally finishing what he started 7 years ago. I have only been involved in the last 3 years of it but I can certainly tell you that it’s not easy whatsoever. It’s one of the most difficult things one can ever do. So proud of you azizam!
The weather in Ithaca is indeed insane. It’s sunny and very humid. Yet, after some minutes, rain pours down and doesn’t stop for, like, half an hour. When it stops and the sun comes out, and you just feel that finally your clothes are drying, it pours again. The summer weather is unpredictable here: walk in shorts and carry an umbrella!
But you know what’s lovely about summer? Fruit! Summer has the best fruit ever; just look at these gorgeous colors.
I eat a lot of fruit, that’s just how it is in Iran: there is always a big platter or bowl of fruit on the table in almost every house. You just get used to having fruit everyday. My husband, on the other hand, is not a big fruit fan even if it’s cut into small pieces and is plated beautifully. But he loves smoothies!
Therefore one day, when we had these fabulous fruit and I was munching on them, I realized that I was actually not sharing them with my husband. Being a super caring wife (Is there a “wife of the year” award or something?) I decided to make him this three layered smoothie and well I made a glass for myself, too, because why not?
The combination of these fruits is just perfect. The sweet and sour taste of strawberries and blueberries is followed by the tangy kiwi and finished with super sweet mango, giving the pleasure of tasting everything delicious in one gulp!
I would suggest making and layering this smoothie right before serving as the texture might change if it’s seated out for too long. After all, it’s fresh fruit we are talking about. Fresh fruit must be consumed fresh!
How to layer them? Spoon! Use a spoon to pour the second and third layer because if you pour it straight from the blender, they will all get mixed up. I did not use any sugar or dairy in this drink because I wanted to keep it 100% natural and fruity. I wanted the drink to replace our daily intake of fruit, but if you want to get fancy, go ahead and add a scoop of ice cream to each of these layers!
