Rich Cardamom Rose Hot Chocolate is a delicious cozy drink for cold winter evenings. Quality chocolate melted in milk and infused with Middle Eastern ingredients makes for a dreamy drink.
Chocolate for me, in any shape or form, is one of the many doors to the land of happiness and smiles.
Do you check weather forecast everyday? Or sometimes even more than once a day?
I’m definitely not one of those people who check weather forecast everyday. Especially because I can easily bare cold if I don’t know how cold it is whereas if I know how cold Cambridge actually is, I might just not go out at all. I love going out and see the trees in our street – it’s so delightful to see how they have changed through the months.
In September they were all green in different shades and then gorgeous fall colors started coming in. I must say, the tree in front of our window had some breathtaking colors, golden yellow and then a gorgeous shade of orange and ruby red. It was amazing to sit down at the table right behind the window and write as my soul was being nourished by the amazing colors nature brought.
But looking outside the window is not always enough. Sometimes you need to go out in the cold, look at the trees and the sky, feel that cold wind on your cheek and then come home, thinking to yourself “good thing I got that bar of chocolate the other day.” and then start making yourself a cup of hot chocolate. And as you’re breaking the chocolate into pieces, thoughts and memories come to you: Tehran, Iran, my first home.
I won’t deny that the US is now home, this is where I’m building my family, my life and my memories. This is where my children (when I have them) will grow up, and on a cold winter evening, when we are sitting around the Christmas tree, they ask me about Iran and where I’ve come from, and they say “maman, what’s Iran like?” I will give them a cup of this cardamom rose hot chocolate and say:
“Exactly like this, kid. Iran has the same taste, same flavor as this warm cup of cardamom rose hot chocolate. Creamy, silky and rich, leaving you longing for more but thinking you might want to get back to it later so you can enjoy it bit by bit. Iran tastes and feels the same. Your other home might be far far away, but this tastes like home, I promise.”
So if you ever want to taste Iran in a cup, you can try this cardamom rose hot chocolate. And in a bite, Iran would be rosewater cardamom pancakes with saffron syrup. Full of magic, nourished with love.

Where do you purchase your edible rose petals, etc?
Hi Eden 🙂 You can purchase cardamom and edible rose petals (Persian rose) from Middle Eastern or Persian supermarkets 🙂
can you substitute distilled water for rosewater?
Hi Monica, there is actually no substitute for rosewater because of its unique aroma 🙂
