Make your own pizza bar for a fun Italian night at home! Get creative with toppings and have everyone make their own unique pizza.
This post has been sponsored by Mutti®. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
We all love pizza, right? From caprese and grilled to Mediterranean-style, we have plenty of pizza recipes here on Unicorns in the Kitchen. We even have pizza for breakfast – how fun is that? But not everyone likes to follow a pre-set recipe on pizza night. Today I’m going to show you how to set up a fun DIY pizza bar at home so everyone can make their favorite pizzas.
DIY pizza bar topping ideas
First and foremost, let’s talk about pizza sauce. I used Mutti® Parma Sauce for Pizza (Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese), Mutti® Napoli Sauce (Fresh Basil & Extra Virgin Olive Oil) and Mutti® Positano Sauce (Garlic & Oregano) to top our pizzas that I got at my local Safeway. Crafted in Italy, Mutti pizza sauces celebrate the beauty of simple fresh ingredients by blending vine-ripened tomatoes with amazing ingredients, such as garlic and oregano. Each sauce has a unique flavor that’s bright and vibrant. They are non-GMO and have no added sugar or additives, which makes them perfect for a family dinner.
Now for the toppings, the sky is the limit. Everyone has their favorite pizza toppings from pepperoni to sausage and all kinds of veggies. Here are a few toppings we used:
- Meat: pepperoni and sausage
- Fresh veggies: green and red peppers, red onion, mushrooms
- Roasted veggies: zucchini and eggplants
- Marinated veggies: olives, sun-dried tomatoes, jalapenos, banana peppers and artichokes
- Greens: Spinach and arugula
- Cheese: Mozzarella
You can add or remove items from this list according to your liking. Leftover chicken and beef work well on pizza too.
What about the dough?
If you have the time and a favorite pizza dough, you can make the dough from scratch. However, store bought pizza dough works just fine. Make sure you have enough pizza dough for each person. You can also go down the quick route and use flatbread. To do so, check out my flatbread pizza recipe for complete instructions.
I get all my ingredients at my local Safeway. It’s convenient, easy and quick. You can also use the Safeway app to order your ingredients and check out coupons.
A few tips for your pizza bar
- Prepare all the ingredients ahead of time. I placed everything on a large board, but you can also place each ingredient in a separate bowl.
- Have the oven preheated at 450ºF before you start making the pizzas. Cook the pizzas one by one or two by two depending on the size of the pizzas and the oven.
- Don’t have enough pizza pans? That’s okay! Use your baking sheets instead, they work just fine.
- Roll out each pizza dough on a parchment paper to prevent sticking to the pan and ensure quick transfer and cleanup.

I love this idea. We do something similar when we make homemade pizza because everyone likes something different.
I love the idea of a DIY pizza bar, and these pizzas look epic too.
This is such a great idea. I need to have some Italian nights for myself and make this!
This is a genius idea!! We all love pizza, but we all want different toppings, so now we can have it just how we want it!
