Have your guests say WOW with these Salmon Avocado bites! The smoked salmon pairs very well with goat cheese and smoked gouda crackers!
Sometimes, you’ve gotta get a little bit fancier!
How was your father’s day? Ours was quite normal, we called our dad and told him how much we love him, but I still wish we were there in Seattle to celebrate with him! If we were in Seattle, I would probably make some of his favorites such as Sweet and Sour Baked Chicken Wings or Persian Spinach and Eggs.
So, schools are off now, right? That means lots of summer parties and gathering! When I first came to the US, the whole snack and appetizer culture was new to me, especially snacks with smoked salmon and different types of crackers. These types of snacks are just not common in the middle east and that’s why they were really interesting!
My husband loves smoked salmon and at the parties we attend, smoked salmon is usually served on a platter, and is sometimes accompanied with shrimp cocktail. There is always a couple types of cheese and different varieties of crackers. This gave me the idea of actually combining crackers and salmon and adding a touch of other good stuff such as avocado and goat cheese to make an awesome party appetizer!
I bought TRISCUIT Hint of Salt Crackers and TRISCUIT Smoked Gouda Crackers. I used TRISCUIT Smoked Gouda Crackers for these Salmon Avocado Bites aka Salmon Avocuit, and they turned out very good as the smoked salmon complimented the mild smokey taste of the crackers really well. You can use any of the following types of crackers:
- TRISCUIT Original Crackers
- TRISCUIT Reduced Fat Crackers
- TRISCUIT Hint of Salt Crackers
- TRISCUIT Cracked Pepper & Olive Crackers
- TRISCUIT Mediterranean Olive Crackers
- TRISCUIT Smoked Gouda Crackers
- TRISCUIT Sriracha Crackers
To make everything tastier, I also mixed the goat cheese with some dried parsley and finely chopped red onion. The amount is small but the flavor is bold. I also mashed the avocado so it’s spreadable and mixed it with a little bit of salt and black pepper. The whole combination is just perfect for any occasion and any day!
Because avocados change color after a while, it’s best to make these salmon avocado bites right before serving.
What would you like to top crackers with? Are you more of a “sweet topping” person or a “salty topping” person?
