We can’t have enough milkshakes and are adding new ones every now and then. If you’re new to making milkshakes at home, start with our complete tutorial on how to make a milkshake. From classics such as vanilla milkshake to more flavored ones like cookies and cream milkshake and our coconut milkshake for chocolate lovers, we have all the milkshakes you need!

Ingredients

you need brewed coffee, vanilla ice cream, milk, cocoa powder and ice to make milkshake.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Brewed coffee: The stronger the coffee, the more flavor the milkshake will have. You can also use a couple shots of espresso, but make sure it’s completely cool.
  • Vanilla ice cream: Get real ice cream for this milkshake, it’ll make it creamy and thick.
  • Cocoa powder: To enhance the flavor, we add just a little bit of cocoa powder.

I love topping milkshakes with whipped cream but this is a totally optional step.

Recipe Tips

  • It’s best to use real ice cream for this recipe. Low fat ice cream or frozen yogurt will not give you the same delicious flavor and creamy texture.
  • Make sure the ice cream is completely cold before you start making the milkshake.
  • It’s best to keep the glasses in the freezer for about 10 minutes while you prepare the milkshake. This way, when you serve it, the milkshake stays cold for longer.

Flavor variations

Here are some of the most popular ones:

  • Coffee banana: Add one banana to this recipe. This will add a nice subtle sweetness.
  • Chocolate coffee: Add 2 tablespoons chocolate sauce to the milkshake before blending.
  • Nutella coffee: Use 2 tablespoons Nutella with the ice cream in the blender.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible to use instant coffee to make coffee milkshake?

Yes. You can either add it directly to the blender with the other ingredients or mix it in some water before adding it to the other ingredients.

Can I use non-dairy milk instead of dairy milk?

Oat milk makes good milkshake because of its creamy texture. Simply go with a 1:1 ratio and use oat milk instead of dairy milk. You can also use cashew or coconut milk if desired.

I just made this and I used the 2 servings recipe. I didn’t follow it exactly because I didn’t have enough ice cream, but my only problem was too much cocoa powder!! It’s so creamy and delicious, but I can really taste the powder. But that’s just my problem! I’m sure if I did everything right it would be better if that’s even possible.

I just died and went to heaven. That was so good. Coffee and milkshake together ought to be illegal. It’s just that good.
